Malcolm Gladwell famously noted that it takes 10,000 of “deliberate practice” in order to become world class in any field.
When it comes to music, the same applies.
If you want to become a better musician, you will need to put in the hours. And not just any hours. Hours of deliberate and worthwhile practice.
But how do you know what to practice each time you sit down? How do you figure out the most important aspect or skill you need to improve on? Through a lot of reflection and analysis of what you do when you are in your practice zone.
And regardless of whether you are a beginner or an expert, there are always areas to improve on.
So here they are.
Once you keep them in mind each time you are practicing, you’ll be well on your way to being the kind of musician you’ve always dreamed of becoming.
