So it’s a new year, and everyone’s probably made and broken a ton of new year’s resolutions already. And we’re only three weeks in.
But that’s just how it goes. We had a great holiday here at DeviantNoise.com – we took some time to focus on on ourselves. But now we’re ready to get back in full-force.
Here’s our resolution – take DeviantNoise.com to the next level in terms of knowledge, hot beats and great videos. Stay tuned for some awesome resources coming your way.
How To Make This Year, YOUR Year.
So honestly, *$%# a new year’s resolution. You’re the same person on December 31st as you are on January 1st.
What separates people that make it from people that don’t is their overall attitude towards their goals. You have to want it like a crack head wants that next rock.
You have to be addicted to what you’re doing and work your ass off tryna get that next hit (in our case literally – that next hit song).
How do you do that?
Work harder than the next man/woman. If they do this music thing on the side, do it full-time. If they make 1 song a month, you make 4. If they’re hitting up a new blog/forum to spread their music every day, you hit up 2.
Just work harder. Be focused. Stop distracting yourself from your main goal – to be successful as a rapper, singer, producer or DJ.
If you do that, you’re going to make it. And by the end of the year, you’ll have achieved so many of your goals you won’t even remember the point you started at.
There are people out there who are working twice as hard as you, right now. Don’t let them take your success from right out under you.
I know… It’s not the sexy feel-good answer you wanted. But it’s real shit.
This is a hustle. Your favorite artists talk about it all the time. They’re not just talking nonsense. They mean it. They work HARD, and keep working hard. They do the things and work the hours other people aren’t willing to do.
It’s not the illuminati. It’s not the fact that people don’t know good music. It’s not that you don’t have the same team.
Its that they’re willing to do the work. And if they don’t know how to do something, they’re willing to pay to get it done.
Unfortunately, for most of us – we don’t have that kind of cash .So it’s up to us to keep learning every aspect of this business, and most importantly, putting it into practice.
Here’s something you can do now:
Every single day, you need to be writing a song, producing a beat or working on a new set/scratch/technique. Every day.
And then, once you’ve done that, learn something new about music (making it, marketing it, whatever…)
And THEN, do something, ANYTHING, to market your music. Go comment on a blog, hit up a forum, go on social media, buy some ads or radio play, network with another artist/producer/dj/etc.
Do these things everyday. And everyday you’ll take little leaps forward in your music career. And by December 31, 2015 you’ll be light years ahead of 90% of your competition.
And that’s some boss shit…
