Things To Consider

The first thing to consider when journeying to learn music is what exactly you are doing this for.

Most people will fall into one of two categories:

  • I want to pursue a creative career in music
  • I want to make or play music strictly for fun/enjoyment

Neither of those options is wrong, but your learning path and priorities for learning, may be slightly different, depending on what you choose.

You probably already have an idea of what you want to learn – rapping, singing, piano, guitar, beat making, etc.

And that’s great, but what you should ask yourself next is, “how can I learn best?”

Are you someone with a lot of discipline and self-accountability that learns best on their own? Or do you prefer more structure and hand-held guidance from an instructor or coach?

That will factor into the way you teach yourself music.

Regardless of what you want to do or how you want to learn, there’s a path that will work best for you.
